The Parliament of Lithuania on July 8 ratified the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union. On July 3, the accord was ratified by the legislature of Romania, while on July 4 by the legislative body of Estonia, IPN reports, quoting the Parliament’s press service.
The Latvian legislature is set to ratify the agreement on July 10, while the German Bundestag will ratify it after the parliamentary vacation.
Under the EU procedures, the treaty must be ratified by all the 28 EU member states and will take effect on the first day of the second month of the day the last ratification instrument is submitted. By then, the Association Agreement will be implemented partially, on a temporary basis. It will start to be applied one month after the EU and Moldova complete the required procedures.
