Three NGOs selected at a contest will be involved in the process of intensifying efforts in developing education policies. The planned activities form part of the broader technical assistance provided by the Open Society Foundations to the Ministry of Education.
Rima Bezede, head of “Pro Didactica” Association that is one of the three NGOs, said the initiated projects will enable to assess society so as to promote education reforms. “We will help promote reforms by staging public discussions, face to face with society, teachers, parents and all the social players. We will go to five villages and five districts. We will address such problems as financial autonomy, participatory management, the advantages for all the participants in the education process, and inclusive education. The results will be presented to the authorities because many problems derive from the lack of knowledge and understanding of these problems,” Rima Bezede stated for IPN.
Another selected project is promoted by “Catalactica” Association. The association’s research coordinator Mihnea Preotesi said the studies that will be made will present the picture in the education system. There will be selected 100 persons from representative groups from all over the country, except Transnistria, and will be interviewed.
Anatol Gremalschi, program director at the Public Policy Institute that is the third selected NGO, considers that all the teachers must by assessed annually so that they modernize the teaching methods and ensure better communication with the students. “I think our project is different from the other two as we want to discuss not only with students, but also with employers so as to find out what our specialists lack to be more competitive. We will carry out sociological researches. Such researches were also conducted in 2006 – 2007,” Anatol Gremalschi has told IPN.
The three projects have a budget of US$250,000 and will be implemented by next April.
