Three policemen were detained for bribery

Two patrol agents and an officer of the Technical Surveillance and Road Accident Service of the Orhei Police Inspectorate were detained due to being suspected of passive corruption, said a National Anticorruption Center press release.

According to the whistleblower, law enforcement officers are suspected of claiming and receiving in two installments the amount of five thousand lei for not documenting the act of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A criminal investigation into passive corruption was commenced. If convicted, police officers face up to ten years in prison, fines and deprivation of the right to hold public office.
