Three police officers are suspected of passive corruption and traffic of influence. In a communique, the Prosecutor General's Office says the policemen asked and received €5,000 from a Chisinau inhabitant for setting him free from custody. In several months, the police officers asked initially €2,000 from him for returning his car that was confiscated during the investigation and then €3,000 and a plot of land in Durlesti town for closing the legal case opened against him, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During investigations, it was established that the three police officers forced the man into persuading his mother to sign a contract for the sale of his apartment situated in Chisinau. The apartment was to be registered in the name of the wife of one of the police officers. They also demanded selling two plots of land belonging to relatives of the man.
The police officers are now under investigation. One of them works at the Straseni Police Department, another one at the Ministry of the Interior's Prosecution Division, while the third at the Organized Crime Division of the same Ministry.
