Three persons, among whom a minor, were killed in an explosion that occurred in an apartment building situated at 11/5 Moscovei Blvd in Chisinau. Another six hurt persons were rushed to the hospital with different injuries. These included an employee of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, IPN reports.
The blast affected a number of apartments on the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th floors of the sixth stair of the block. Rescuers found the bodies or a woman and a child on the 14th floor. A 77-year-old man died in the hospital as a result of the injuries he received in the explosion.
A cell crisis was constituted at the scene and dwellers were evacuated. A number of 16 firefighting vehicles and almost 100 rescuers and firefighters were involved in the rescue operation.
An investigation is under way. A group of psychologists of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies have offered assistance to the victims. The rescuers and firemen are performing unblocking and search works inside the building.
