The three party leaders who this morning announced that they agreed to create a pro-European parliamentary majority didn’t have another option, said the executive director of the Institute for Public Policy, political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie. He told IPN that the decision was announced rather quickly, but difficult negotiations are yet to be held.
“They know each other, more or less, and do not have much to negotiate as they do not have other options. The only option, which is rather feeble, is to involve somehow the Party of Communists in governance. The majority is already known. Each of the three parties has its own candidates for different posts,” said the analyst.
Arcadie Barbarosie noted that this majority must again review the tasks and obligations of the Government and must continue the initiated steps, especially the fight against corruption and the reform of the justice system. “They agreed to form a coalition because they have no other way out. They haven’t yet agreed who will be the Premier and who will form part of the Cabinet. The negotiations on these issues will not be simple, particularly because one of the leaders of the new coalition had been in the opposition for over a year,” he stated.
The Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party have together 55 seats of MP.
