If parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, three parties would enter the legislative body. The Party of Socialists (PSRM) would gain 30% of the vote, the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) – 21%, while the Democratic Party (PDM) - 8%, shows a poll published by the International Republican Institute, IPN reports.

Compared with the poll published in March, the PSRM lost 3%, the PAS 6%, while the PDM increased its score by 4% and would thus pass the election threshold.

The number of those who are willing to go to the polls deceased. In March, 86% of those polled said they would take part in elections “very probably” and “most probably”. In October, this figure declined to 83%. The number of those who support the mixed electoral system rose from 43% in March, when these were “sure” and partially sure” the elections should be held based on this system, to 51% in October.

According to the poll, 26% of the respondents trust most President Igor Dodon, 15% PAS leader Maia Sandu, while by 6% Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase. The leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grecheanyi is trusted by 5% of those surveyed, while the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc by 4%.

Asked what international union Moldova should join, 49% of the respondents answered the EU, while 38% the Eurasian Union.

If a referendum on Moldova’s entry into NATO was held, 22% would vote for, while 43% would vote against.

The poll was carried out in September- October 2017 and covered a sample of 1,514 people.
