Three political parties that are now represented in Parliament – the Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party – are on the verge of extinction, considers political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie, who is the executive director of the Institute for Public Policy. This presented the results of the Public Opinion Barometer for April 2016, IPN reports.
Arcadie Barbarosie said that the crisis in Moldova is systemic and the three aforementioned parties are close to disappearance. “I give no chance to them. I don’t think that these parries can radically change the situation in the country. The fact that the opposition parties gathered supporters means that a part of the voters put their trust in them, but the amount of this trust is not known. 35% of undecided voters is a considerable figure from which these and other parties can be fueled,” he stated.
Igor Botan, political analyst and a member of the jury that monitored the compilation of the Barometer, said that he is not so optimistic. “In this country, with the data revealed by the poll, with the image of the parties and their media resources, with the money they invest, with the conversion of mayors, there are instruments that can significantly distort the data of a sociological research,” he stated.
Jury member Mariana Kalughin said he is concerned because most of the respondents consider the elections in Moldova are not free and fair. The Central Election Commission is not very trusted by the people and this institution should adjust its image.
The Public Opinion Barometer was commissioned by the Institute for Public Policy. It was carried out between April 16 and 24 and covered a sample of 1,143 persons from 86 communities. The margin of sampling error is 2.8%.
