Three sections of national roads became inaccessible due to the snow in the morning of January 28. These are the R-31 segment leading to Tudora-Palanca, the M-3 road in Cahul district that goes to the border with Romania and the way of access to the Giurgiulești Port. Contacted by IPN for details, Sergiu Căpățână, head of the Operational Service of the State Road Administration, said that snowdrifts formed on these road sections. Road workers are cleaning the streets so as to remedy the situation.
“The State Road Administration recommends all the participants in traffic to outfit their units of transport in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulations, with proper tires. All the systems, starting with the lights and ending with the cooling systems of vehicles, should be functional. The trips that are not urgent should be put off until the situation improves,” said Sergiu Căpățână.
The Operational Service of the State Road Administration works nonstop and can be contacted on (022) 22-55-30; (022) 74-89-61 and +37 360 477 117. In case of difficulty, the drivers are urged to seek help from the closest patrol team or to call the 112 Service.
The General Police Inspectorate said a number of local roads in Anenii Noi, Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Strășeni and other localities are impassable. Owing to the high winds, the ferryboat in Molovata that connects the banks of the Nistru River stopped work at 7am.
The orange code advisory is valid for January 28 too. There will be heavy snow in parts, with glazed frost and ice on the roads. The north wind will intensify to 15-20 m/s.
