The delegation of the German legislative body in Chisinau selected three Moldovan young people who will go to Berlin for five-month placements with Members of the German Bundestag at the beginning of 2014, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from Parliament, the German delegation and Speaker Igor Corman had a meeting, where they discussed the results of the interviews with Moldovans held within the International Parliamentary Scholarships program.
German lawmaker Arfst Wagner said that eight Moldovan young people took part in the interview stage. The panel selected three of them.
Igor Corman approved of the Bundestag’s program of scholarships and underlined its importance for forming the young generation. He expressed his confidence that after the internship in Berlin, the young people will return to Moldova to apply the gained knowledge and to contribute to the country’s development.
Since 1990, the German Bundestag has collaborated with the Humboldt University, the Technical University and the Free University of Berlin to run its International Parliamentary Internships scheme. This gives well qualified young people with a strong interest in politics from the USA and Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of Germany’s system of parliamentary government. Moldova has taken part in the program since 2008.
