Moldovan pugilists Dumitru Galagoț, Victor Karapchevski and Alexei Zavatin have won the boxing memorial competition “Branko Pesic” of Belgrade, IPN reports.
Alexei Zavatin scored spectacular victories in the +91 kg weight class. In the semifinals, he defeated by knockout the Turkish athlete of Cuban origin Alain Iyordan and in the final won against the representative of Serbia Vladan Babic.
In the 64 kg class, Dumitru Galagoț won the final against Russia’s Gusein Magomedov, while in the 75 kg class, Victor Karapchevski beat Turkey’s Birol Aygin. Moldovan pugilist Andrei Zaplitnyi won bronze in the 91 kg class. The tournament in Belgrade involved pugilists from 22 countries.
