The Central Election Commission (CEC) on September 9 registered three initiative groups that will collect signatures in support of candidates for office of President of the Republic of Moldova - the Shor Party’s candidate Violeta Ivanov and independents Ion Costaș and Constantin Oboroc, IPN reports.
The CEC issued the members of the initiative groups with permits and subscription lists. The groups will collect signatures until October 1, 2020.
So far the CEC registered seven initiative groups in support of candidates for President, namely of the Liberal Democrat Party (PLDM) in support of candidate Tudor Deliu; of the Our Party (PN) for Renato Usatyi; of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform (PPPDA) for Andrei Năstase; of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) for Maia Sandu; of the Pro Moldova Party for Adrian Candu; of the National Unity Party (PUN) for Octavian Țîcu and of the Union Electoral Block for Dorin Chirtoacă.
Four days after the registration of their initiative groups, the PPPDA and the Our Party presented the subscription lists with signatures. As a result of a draw, it was decided that Renato Usatyi will top the list of candidates on the ballot, while Andrei Năstase will be under No. 2.
