Three golds and one bronze at Luxemburg swimming tournament

Alexei Sancov caused a sensation at the Euro Meet Luxemburg 2015 tournament. The 15-year-old swimmer won two gold medals. Overall, the Moldovan athletes won three golds and one bronze, IPN reports.

Sancov won the 200 meters freestyle by 1.52.95 and the 400 meters freestyle by 4.00.88. He holds the national record among juniors for the 400 and 800 meters freestyle.

Another record was set by Alexandra Vinichenko, who won the 100 meters breaststroke by 1.10.55. Alexandra also competed in the 50 meters breaststroke, where she finished third with the time 0.32.61.

Tatiana Perstniova ranked 16th among seniors in the 100 meters backstroke and 200 meters backstroke. Alexei Sancov and Alexandra Vinichenko also took part in the seniors competition, but didn’t win medals.

The three Moldovan athletes fulfilled the norms for qualifying for the World Swimming Championship that will take place in Russia’s Kazan between July 24 and August 9.
