Three candidates for CNA director were rejected

Three candidates for the post of director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) failed to pass the first stage of the contest, in which the best applications were selected. Those rejected didn’t meet the requirement regarding the minimum work experience – at least 10 years in the legal field, Info-Prim Neo reports. After debating the issue, the parliamentary commission on legal issues, appointments and immunities decided that scientific activity cannot be considered work experience. As a result, Octavian Bejan, Dan Marian and Anatol Bazgu didn’t meet the minimum requirements for participation in the contest. The commission decided to allow them to bring written proof of the necessary work experience before the written test. The remaining 19 candidates included the current director of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption Viorel Chetraru, the former head of the Traffic Police Division Sergiu Armasu, and lawyer Ilie Rotaru, former candidate for the President’s Office and for the position of Moldovan judge at the ECHR. The next stage will take place on September 25 – the written test, and on September 26 –the interview. At the end of May, the Parliament adopted the Law on the reform of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC), which will be renamed into the National Anticorruption Center from October 1. The change of the procedure is determined by the fact that the head of an anticorruption agency should be protected from political fluctuations. The reformation of the CCCEC is part of the Plan of Actions Moldova-EU for the visa regime liberalization.
