Three bank employees steal equivalent of over 1.5m lei from accounts

Three female employees of a bank branch in Soldanesti town included erroneous data in the institution’s bookkeeping documents and managed to steal over 1 million lei, US$17,000 and more than €34,000 from clients’ accounts. Recently, the court sentenced one of the former cashiers to 12 years in jail, while the other two to nine years behind bars, Info-Prim Neo. According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the women are aged between 25 and 29. The fraudulent scheme had been used since 2007 until 2010. Two of the women were arrested in the courtroom, while the third woman did not come to the hearing. She was put on the wanted list.
