At least 11 units of transport remained blocked in the snow on March 19 and on the night of March 20 and needed the assistance of rescuers. Among these were three ambulances and a school bus, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the rescuers intervened mainly in the municipality of Comrat and in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, where they towed away five trucks, and also in the districts of Hancesti, Straseni, Soroca, Telenesti, Orhei and Chisinau municipality.
The State Road Administration said traffic moves in winter conditions on the national roads.
The Border Police states the hovercraft customs post “Cosauti” was reopened in the morning of March 20. This was closed on March 15 after the level of water in the Nistru rose.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, the public transport runs as usual. A number of 302 trolleybuses and 99 buses are running on routes. The local authorities request the private individuals and legal entities to clear their precincts of snow so as to avoid the formation of ice.
In emergencies, the people are urged to call the services 901, 902 and 903.
