The members of the organized group that set fire to a police car on the morning of the second round of the presidential election have been indicted. The three admitted their guilt. Under the Criminal Code, they face up to eight years in prison for "destruction of property by means dangerous to the life or health of several persons" committed against persons in positions of responsibility in the IGP, IPN reports.

The crime was committed on the night of November 2 to 3, 2024, when the second round of the presidential elections was to be held. The car set on fire was to transport INI employees to one of the polling stations in Ceadir-Lunga. That night, the leader of the group instructed an accomplice acting as a driver to get behind the wheel of his car and transport him and the man acting as the arsonist to the parking lot of the Chisinau police headquarters. By the time they got there, they had stopped at a gas station where they bought several liters of gasoline.

When they arrived on the scene, the arsonist threw gasoline on the police car in the parking lot. The damage caused after burning the car amounted to almost 180 thousand lei. During this time, the members of the criminal group filmed the scene in order to pass it on to the person who ordered the crime, who was not in the country.

Subsequently, the driver and the leader went to the city of Varnitsa in Anenii Noi, where the leader received at least 1300 dollars. Of the amount received, the driver later brought the arsonist his share of 900 dollars, while 400 dollars went to him.

The leader of the criminal group was apprehended in Varnița, later the perpetrator himself was apprehended.

The persons indicted are in custody, awaiting judgment on the case sent by the PCCOCS prosecutors to the Chisinau Buiucani District Court. Until a final judgment is delivered, they are presumed innocent.
