29,000 trees and 15,000 bushes have been planted in Chisinau as part of the National Greening Day “A Tree for our Eternity”. Another 1,500 trees are to be planted this week, Info-Prim Neo reports. The interim head of the Green Spaces Management, Eliferie Haruta, told the City Hall meeting that 29,000 sycamores, limes, oaks, nut trees, ashes and acacias, as well as 15,000 bushes, were planted in Chisinau on March 31. There were also performed cleanup works. Municipal services managed to reseed 143 ha of turfs. In the context, the chairwoman of the Education, Youth and Sports Division Tatiana Tverdohleb said that about 50,000 pupils and teaching staff were involved in planting trees and cleaning up the territory on the Greening Day. They planted over 8,000 trees and trimmed over 10,000 trees. Fitted out with special equipment, they liquidated 180 large unauthorised dumps and about 800 smaller tips. However, the situation regarding the unauthorised dumps in the suburbs is still alarming, the head of the Municipal Centre for Preventive Medicine, Iurie Panzaru, said at the same meeting. He claims that the suburban mayors are responsible for the cleanliness in the territory, and have to fine those who set up these disposal tips. At the same time, Panzaru requests the district pretors to get involved in the cleanup works, especially in liquidating the unauthorised dumps. He mentioned a lot of locations, among which the bridge that links Ciocana district with Botanica; Posta Veche district, and Testemiteanu Sreet where there are dumps that appeared back in 2005-2006.
