Thousands of people went to the Central Market of Chisinau from the very morning to make the last purchases for the Easter table. The prices of most of the products that are usually taken to the church to be blessed on the night before Easter were raised by 5-15 lei on a week before, IPN reports.
One kilogram of lamb costs 85 lei, as opposed to 70 lei last week. The tomatoes grew dearer by up to 10 lei, to 23-40 lei per kilogram. One kilogram of radish costs 23-25 lei, in contrast to 15-18 lei a week ago.
Ten eggs are sold for 12-15 lei. Smoked pork costs 65-95 de lei/kg, while one kilogram of ewe’s cheese – minimum 50 lei. The homemade sausages sell for 75-90 lei/kg.
The families that do not have possibilities of baking paschal cakes can purchase them at the market. The prices vary according to size and form. A large cake of over 1 kg costs 80 lei. The bread with cheese costs about 40 lei.
