Officers of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption arrested two persons suspected of legalizing identity documents for Moldovans that are abroad, Info-prim Neo reports. According to the press service of the Center, the two are suspected of asking sums varying between 400 and 2,800 euros for talking into officials of the Ministry of Information Development. On June 27, a woman aged 31 was caught in the act of taking 600 euros from a person. The given person told the police that the money was intended for legalizing the foreign passport, the identity card, the birth certificate and the marriage certificate of a person that was abroad. Upon a search of the woman’s car, the Center’s officers found 600 marked euros, which represented the last installment for the mentioned documents. The first tranche of 2,200 euros was paid at the start of the month. On the same day, the officers caught a man aged 32 red-handed. He was taking 300 euros from a person for hastening the legalization of the identity card. If found guilty of misuse of power, the two could face fines of up to 60,00 lei or three to seven years’ imprisonment.
