The foreigners crossing the border with Ukraine, including the Moldovan citizens, must show that they have minimum 4,060 Ukrainian Hrivnas (6,360 lei) on them for a five-day stay in Ukraine. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Ministry announces that the Moldovan authorities asked the Ukrainian ones to clarify the situation and to annul these provisions for the Moldovan citizens. The given subject was discussed over the phone by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara. The issue was also discussed in a telephone conversation between the heads of the border police departments. The consultations with the Ukrainian side will be continued so as to remedy the created situation.

From last November, Ukraine has been stricken by large-scale protests staged by the opposition after the government suspended the preparations for the association with the European Union. A number of people, including a police officer, died in the protests that degenerated into rioting.
