This year’s grapes will have a higher level of glucose, but production will be 25% poorer than last year’s. President of the Association of Table Grape Producers and Exporters Sergiu Vesca told Info-Prim Neo that this year’s grapes can be used for the production of superior quality wines, for collection wines, but not so much for the production of sparkling wine, which demands a higher level of acidity of the grapes. According to Sergiu Vesca those will still want to produce sparkling wine, that is to be consumed within six months, will have to harvest the fruit earlier and follow a special production technique. These recommendations are true for both young and older vineyards. In household conditions the grapes must be harvested earlier, because people don’t use select dregs. The most favorable harvest period is late August – early September. As for the exports, Sergiu Vesca says that it depends on the price offered by local enterprises. If the grapes sell at, at least, 3.5 lei per kilogram, then there will be no export.
