August 26, the Monday before Independence Day, will not be declared a day off, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection clarified.

Moldova celebrates its Independence Day on August 27, a national holiday. In previous years, if the holiday fell close to the weekend, the Government also declared the days surrounding August 27 free from work, offering public sector employees a mini-vacation.

Independence Day festivities this year, however, will last three days. On August 26, the Great National Assembly Square will host an electronic music concert, featuring Magic Flowers, GOLAN, Subcarpații, and Andrew Rayel. On Tuesday, the public will be treated to a concert by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, with two-time Eurovision winner Loreen also expected to perform. On August 28, festivities will culminate with a concert featuring the rock bands Alternosfera, Vama, and Okean Elzy.
