The third number of the analytic publication “Euromonitor”, an extensive report regarding the implementation process of the Action Plan “Republic of Moldova- European Union” was presented on Thursday, August 3 at a press conference. The Association for Participative Democracy “ADEPT” and the Analytic Center “Expert-Group”, authors of the report, monitored the actions accepted and implemented by the Republic of Moldova during the second trimester of 2006.
The analyst Igor Botan declared that the monitoring chapters included 10 of those 300 actions, as Democratic Institutions, Transnistrian Conflict, Justice, Development and the economic and social reforms, Business Environment, Combating trafficking in human beings etc. Objectively and independently, due to the support of independent experts, there were evaluated the most important progresses and failures of the monitored areas. According to Botan, the evolution in the field of Democratic Institutions was moderate and the process of “2+5” format negotiations in the Transnistrian conflict is blocked since March 2006. At the same time, the area of justice reforming was not marked by significant events aimed at strengthening the independence and authority of justice, and the situation in combating trafficking in human beings continues to run down.
In this context, the economic analyst Valeriu Prohnitchi declared that monitoring the process of economic and social reforms proved that the economic growth pace diminished in the first trimester compared with the same period of 2005 and it is determined by the decline of the industrial sector and stagnation of the agricultural area. Moreover, the gross added value created in the whole economy continues to diminish the growth pace whilst the import and product taxes are increasing. This way the only propeller of the economic growth are the remittances from abroad and increase of wages, the economic analyst believs.
“Euromonitor” is published in the framework of the project “Action Plan Moldova-EU: document easy of access for the wide public”, implemented by “Adept” and “Expert-Grup” and financed by the Department for International Development of Great Britain.
