The third France – Moldova Decentralized Cooperation and Local Development Forum will take place in Chisinau during two days, on October 4 and 5. The event will bring together representatives of the public authorities of the country’s districts. At the end of the first forum day, the Embassy of France will award the best Moldovan-French cooperation practices. The event will take place at the children’s center “Prietenia” in Coșnița village of Dubăsari district.
In a news conference at IPN, Martine Zejgman, attaché for cooperation at the Embassy, said the goal of this event is to bring the local elected officials from France closer to those from Moldova. At the current edition, the participants will discuss the public services provided by the local authorities and the living conditions of citizens.
The Agency for Monument Inspection and Restauration forms part of the piloting committee in the organization of these events. The Agency’s director Ion Ștefăniță said the cultural heritage should be put on records in each locality and the local public authorities and the community should acknowledge and fully realize this potential. France remains the best example of how the cultural heritage should be kept and developed and the Embassy of France supports Moldova in this regard through different partnerships.
President of the Institute of Administrative Sciences of Moldova Maria Orlov said the university community is a partner in the process of modernizing the local public administration, including by contributing to forming the future public functionaries for good governance in the interests of all the citizens.
Attending the conference, the head of Dubăsari district Grigore Polichinski noted the forum has a special significance for the local public authorities that need the experience of such countries as France. “This interesting idea of going towards decentralization and cooperation by organizing an intelligent territory is important,” he stated.
The president of the French Association “City-internet”, university professor Emmanuel Eveno stated the Internet is an instrument by which numerous projects are developed, including in the case of the Moldovan-French cooperation. All the projects developed at the local level are based on civic activism.
Vice president of the French Rural Mayors Association Guy Clua said the association he represents aims to protect the rural communities in the relations with the central bodies and to promote equality between localities. The association is ready to cooperate with the local public authorities in different areas. They will pass on the gained experience to the partners in Moldova.
