All the countries where the exports of information technology increased offered facilitated regimes to IT companies. But the progress depends on human resources. That’s why all the interested persons, the young people are invited to build a career in the IT sector, Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu stated in a press club meeting. He noted that there is unexplored potential in regions. The digitization programs in schools leave to be desired, while some of the schools do not have specialized teachers to train young people or at least to arouse their interest in IT, IPN reports.
The official said that through IT parks, companies, groups or persons residing there were allowed to work under special fiscal regimes. They pay a single tax and the reporting method is simpler.
According to Sergiu Gaibu, they further bank on the expansion of the IT sector and of the activities carried out in IT parks, primarily those related to research and development, engineering and designing.
In 2020, for which the most recent data are available, the companies operating in the IT sector had sales of 7.3 billion lei. About half of these companies form part of IT parks. Exports came to US$250 million at a time when all Moldova’s exports added up to US$2.5 billion.
