“You should forget the word embargo. There are certain technical problems as regards the exports of Moldovan wines to Russia and the Russian authorities’ availability to solve them in several weeks,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, quoting the statements made by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, with whom he had a meeting in Moscow. The meeting centered on aspects of the ban imposed by Russia on the imports of Moldovan wine, IPN reports.

The officials expressed their regret at the fact that there is no normal communication platform that would enable to remove certain unpleasant situations that appear in the bilateral commercial relations and certain shortcomings that are unidentified in working regime, without worsening the relations.

Valeriu Lazar said the Russians expressed interest in reconsidering the current communication system in this field. In parallel, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov discussed the technical aspects that must be solved with the head of Russia’s consumer rights watchdog “Rospotrebnadzor” Gennady Onishchenko.

“In the future, everything will depend on the speed at which we move here, in Chisinau and those in Moscow. We ensured the platform and the dialogue between the sides started. We must identify the nature of those problems that we call technical and deal with them as soon as possible,” said the minister of economy.
