There are no preconditions for increasing the electricity charges in 2025, secretary of state of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan stated in the program “Resumé” on RliveTV. According to the official, any possible emergency price is already included in the current charge and this eliminates the risk of an additional increase, IPN reports.

According to Constantin Borosan, even if the Republic of Moldova will have to resort to emergency power purchase agreements, this will not be reflected in the charge paid by consumers.

"The charge is planned for a year ahead. The NAER approved the charges for 2025. At that time, each component was included in the charge, including the fact that part of the power can be emergency power, at its corresponding price," said the official.

Constantin Borosan noted that since the start of the energy crisis, the Republic of Moldova has not yet purchased emergency electricity, which is much more expensive than the average on the international market.

"The consumption is lower than the one planned by the supplier. This means that citizens are receptive and supportive. Consumption has been reduced by 50-100 MW. It is a significant contribution that helps us to fully cover our energy consumption," stated Constantin Borosan.

At the beginning of the year, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) made an adjustment in charges. Consumers served by Premier Energy currently pay 4.1 lei/kWh, up 75%, while FEE Nord customers pay 4.68 lei/kWh, by about 64% more.
