The therapy through theater project intended for persons sentenced to life imprisonment will be continued in 2017. The detainees will continue to play alongside professional actors in the play “Hamlet. Process”, which was launched at Penitentiary No. 17 in Rezina in September 2016. Such an agreement was reached in a meeting of the administration of the Ministry of Justice with the Norwegian Mission of Rule of Law Advisers to Moldova (NORLAM), IPN reports.
The cast of the play “Hamlet. Process” included 11 detainees jailed for life, who played parts together with professional actors. The play was adapted from William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, being directed by Luminita Ticu and Mihai Fusu.
The production is supported financially by the EU Project “Support to the enforcement, probation and rehabilitation systems in Moldova”, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and NORLAM. The Department of Penitentiary Institutions is the project’s main partner.
