The Technical University of Moldova (UTM) will have a new discipline – “Theory and practice of European integration”. It will be taught at the ten faculties of the university in the first and second years of study, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the university.
UTM rector, academician Ion Bostan said the over 100,000 students of the Moldovan universities should become active promoters of the European idea in the villages and towns of the country. “We must study in detail the Association Agreement and find in it the essence for every discipline taught in universities. This way, we will leave less room for irresponsible speculations by adventurers and demagogues,” he stated.
The senate of the UTM approved the allocation of 78,000 lei from the special account of the university for paying salaries to the lecturers who will teach the modules of the given discipline. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences will elaborate a brochure that will be titled “European Union – provoking project of contemporariness”.
In cooperation with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, training seminars centering on the content of the Association Agreement with the EU will be staged for lecturers from all the 60 departments of the UTM. Permanent seminars on the same topic will be organized for university teachers and students.
