The National Library of the Republic of Moldova invites visitors to an exhibition entitled “Theater is poetry that separates itself from the book”. The exhibition consists of rare books, monographs, albums, journals, illustrative materials, tridimensional objects from the fields of literature, dramaturgy and theater. It was mounted on the occasion of World Theater Day that is celebrated annually on March 27, IPN reports.

In the inauguration, National Library director general Elena Pintilei said that the Library, in partnership with a number of institutions, on World Theater Day comes with a congratulatory message to all those who always created a nice atmosphere in performance halls, who come to people’s homes and bring joy, feelings, history and the realities of all times. “In the current times of COVID-19 pandemic, the team of the National Library comes to support you with a welcoming message, a nice exhibition of documents and a meeting of the club Cultur@Art, which once again will show that literature, those who wrote for the theater, are a part of our cultural inheritance, of the national culture and you are valuable personalities of this nation,” stated Elena Pintilei.

Alexandru Grecu, founder and artistic director of the National Theater “Satiricus Ion Luca Caragiale”, congratulated the theater creators from Moldova who produce plays, discuss with spectators and daily maintain this dialogue with the community. “I want to thank the playwrights who are the pillars of the theater as the theater without contemporary dramaturgy will not have a future […] I congratulate all the actors for the heroic work they do daily. I also thank the spectators for coming to the theater,” noted Alexandru Grecu.

Viorica Dobzeu, actress of the National Puppet Theater “Licurici”, said she is sure that the people need theater despite the difficult times as this is vital for the soul. The people come to the theater for an emotion, for a dose of beauty, for energy. “In the performance hall, the dreams take shape and I wish all those who love theater to be strong as we know to gather together people around us and to offer. In this period, we should be hopeful that the theaters will soon reopen their doors and will welcome spectators without whom a theater cannot exist and we will then share the light from the soul,” stated Viorica Dobzeu.

The exhibition can be visited until May 30, 2021 on the first floor of the central block of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova.
