The water level of the lake Ghidighici is lower with 40-50 de centimetres than the norm, and the accumulation lakes Costesti-Stanca and Novodnestrovsk, Ukraine, are ready to get the water from the melted snow of the Carpathians, the head of the company "Apele Moldovei", Mihai Pincov, announced. According to Pincov, at the moment the water stock in Carpathians does not get over the annual level, but anyway, the lakes are ready to get great quantities of water. Recently the water level of the lake Costesti-Stanca was reduced with 3.5 metres, and the Ukrainians reduced the level of the lake Novodnestrovsk cu 4,5 metres. Today, the specialists of Moldova and Romania discuss about decreasing the water level of the lake Costesti-Stanca with other 2 metres. The accumulation lake of Novodnestrovsk can get at least 1 billion cubic meters of water without any danger to overflow, and the lake Costesti-Stanca – 150 million tones. Regarding the accumulation lake Ghidighici, its stock is about 7 million cubic meters of water, and daily, through 2 pipes with the diameter 80 mm, the water is pumped of the lake in order to prevent its excessive accumulation, Mihai Pincov noted. Therefore, he said, decreasing the water level will be done under permanent control, as the water could pass by the turbine of the hydro-central Costesti-Stanca. Another reasons is that in summer, is dry, it could be felt the lack of water stock. There is no danger in the lakes Botna and Raut, pouring our in the Dniestre and have protection dykes. In the same time, Mihai Pincov noted, certain problems could appear at the local lacks. State enterprises, organisations and institutions, cooperative and social, regardless of their property type, which consume water, have to take into consideration the debit of the accumulated water of the aquatic objects and those overflowed into them and the ways and terms approved by the company "Apele Moldovei". The water level of these lakes have to be decreased immediately with 0.5-1.0 metre, depending on the condition of the dyke, and the evacuators should be cleaned, according to Pincov. Moldova’s territory is traversed by 3,260 rivers, sources and brooks permanent and intermittent, 90% of them have a length less than 10 km and only 10% have a length over 100 km. There are over 3,400 lakes and water accumulation basins, having a total surface of over 330 square km and a water volume of 2 million cubic metres.
