The state sectors needs 9 thousand more pre-higher education graduates and twice as many qualified workers annually

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) estimates that, in the years 2007-2011, the personnel need of the state sector will increase annually by 6 thousand specialists with higher education and 3-4 thousand – with pre-higher education. At the same time, there will be need for about 18 thousand qualified workers. According to the draft Government decision regarding the matriculation plans for 2007 for students and pupils in the institutions of higher, pre-higher and secondary professional education, in the higher state education, 7875 places are offered budgetary financing, an increase of 40 (0.5%) compared to the 2006 plan. In the pre-higher state education, the plan stipulates the admission of 4875 students with budgetary financing, an increase of 48 (1%) compared to the numbers admitted for study in colleges in 2006. According to the draft, for the secondary professional education, an increase by 1910 places (13.3%) is stipulated in comparison to the admission number in the current year, which constituted 16310 pupils. The draft government decision proposes the approval for 2007 of a quota for admissions on a contractual basis for students in higher state and private education of 17725 students. The contractual admission quota for pupils in the state and private colleges will be 5200 people, and in the secondary professional state and private education – 1335 places.
