The Center for promoting freedom of expression and access to information “Acces-Info”, in cooperation with several NGOs, will organize the ninth edition of the Right to Know Days between September 24 and 30, under the slogan “An active person is a well-informed person”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vasile Spinei, head of “Acces-Info”, said that a series of events would be organized to promote the right to know. The events are meant to inform the people about their rights and about ways to demand official information. Besides, Acces-Info wants to raise the public authorities’ information regarding the efficient implementation of the right to information, the active participation of citizens in solving community problems and fighting corruption. During the Right to Know Days, Acces-Info yearly awards the Bronze Bell for consistency and courage in promoting access to information. The winners in 2012 are the Bahrinesti town hall from Floresti district, the Association of Electronic Press APEL and the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences of the State University of Moldova. The next three awards were handed to Stela Mocan, executive director of the e-Government Center, Valeriu Prohnitchi, executive director of the Analytic Center “Expert-Grup” and Mihai Tasca, doctor of Law, historian and researcher. September 28 was declared the International Right to Know Day ten years ago in Sofia, Bulgaria, at a forum of NGOs from several countries, including Moldova, specialized in the field of access to information and freedom of expression.
