The Right demands that the Constitutional Court should invalidate President Igor Dodon’s decree to withdraw the nationality of former President of Romania Traian Basescu. The members of the party also request the Court to declare unionism constitutional, IPN reports.

In an open letter to the president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tanase, the unionist party the Right expresses its indignation at the gesture of Igor Dodon, who signed a decree on the withdrawal of the Moldovan nationality from the ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu.

In its statement, The Right says Igor Dodon argues that Traian Basescu violated the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova by his unionist statements, but he, when he was already chosen as President, committed a number of unconstitutional acts – defied the official language of the Republic of Moldova, the Romanian language, encouraged separatism in Transnistria by addressing a congratulatory message to the secessionist leader, offended the EU by profaning the symbols of the EU, of which Moldova is an associate.
