The UN general committee did not accept the request of the member states of the GUAM to introduce the issue regarding the frozen conflicts in Azerbaijan, Georgia and the R. Moldova in the agenda of the 61st General meeting, taking place in New York. Sources from the Ministry of External Affairs and of European Integration told Info-Prim Neo that the R. Moldova representatives will try to introduce this issue at the plenary session of the General meeting, which will take place on Wednesday, September 13. The Ministry of External Affairs in Kiev recently announced that the ministre Boris Tarasiuk also plans, together with his GUAM partners, to request the inclusion in the agenda of the matter regarding the frozen conflicts on the territories of Azerbaijan, Georgia and the R. Moldova. The members of GUAM requested, in August, that the UN General Assembly include a bullet-point regarding the existing conflicts in the member states and their consequences on international peace, security and development on the agenda of the organization’s session. A similar request, made last year by GUAM did not receive the support of the majority of the members of the General Committee. Out of the 28 members, only Azerbaijan, the USA and Great Britain voted in favor. Russia, Armenia, Angola, Myanmar and Venezuela opposed, and the others abstained.
