The number of those who think that Moldova is moving towards a wrong direction reaches record high

Almost 60% of the respondents questioned the Barometer of Public Opinion (BPO) think that Moldova is moving towards a wrong direction, which is a record high since 2001, show the results of the BPO made public on Monday, May 21. At the same time, about a quarter of the respondents consider that the direction is good, this being the record low since March 2002. 45% of the respondents said they are not content with the economic situation of Moldova, and 15.5% said they are pleased with it, which is comparable with the previous polls. Over 80% of the questioned persons said they are especially displeased with the actions undertaken by the leadership of Moldova in what concerns salaries and jobs, and over 75% were displeased with the actions undertaken in combating corruption and increasing living standards. The most of respondents (38.7%) think that, in order to improve the social-economic situation in Moldova, it is necessary to improve the way the laws work, and to attract more foreign investments (38%), to fight criminality (over 33%) etc. BPO was conducted by the Institute of Public Policies from May 3 to May 14 on a sample of 1100 persons in 76 settlements. According to the organisers, the maximum sampling error is 3%.
