The more difficult the current negotiations on the formation of a ruling coalition are, the greater the chances for these to end with a government agreement of a high quality are, Liberal-Democratic MP Valeriu Ghiletski said in the public debate “Why politicians again need time to form a majority coalition and what people in Moldova risk in such conditions?”, held by IPN.

“When the first coalition was formed, the negotiations went easier because there was more trust between the leaders and on the part of society. After we had governed together during five years, the relations worsened. It is normal for the current negotiations to be more difficult, including because of the human factor. But the good side is that in the end we will have a more responsible attitude, a majority coalition and a Government. If this does not happen, the voters will be able to punish the politicians,” said the MP.

Valeriu Ghiletski said the three parties hold the negotiations based on the number of seats they won, this being a democratic rule. “They bear responsibility because they were elected. If they do not manage to convince the people, these will be able to choose someone else in the next elections,” he stated.

The debate “Why politicians again need time to form a majority coalition and what people in Moldova risk in such conditions?” is the 40th installment of the series “Developing political culture by public debates”, staged by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova and with the support of Germany’s Hanns Seidel Foundation.
