Accustomed to gathering to participate in various competitions or social events, maib employees have once again demonstrated that the strength of team spirit can move mountains. Over the weekend, all roads led to Cruzesti, a village near Chisinau, where a plot of about 2 hectares was already ready to receive the nearly 200 employees in the banking sector and their families, who came to mark a new green area on the map of the country.

On a field with an increased risk of slipping, the bank’s team planted 3.000 seedlings of red oak, elm, horn, ash, acacia, maple and shrubs, another 800 pines will be planted in December, according to optimal planting conditions. Viewed from above, the forest that will rise in a few years will be the first to offer a colorful show in the fall in a special way, being planted in the shape of the bank’s logo. For this reason, the employees suggestively named it maib Forest, a plantation that will primarily contribute to soil stabilization, will function as a protection strip for agricultural land, but will also bring value to the village.

Stela Recean, maib Deputy CEO:

“Social responsibility is a term that characterizes maib, which is why we often join social initiatives with an impact on the community. In this case, we understood that the land presents a risk of landslides, therefore planting this forest, the first, in fact, in the locality we try to stop an erosion process by adding a benefit primarily for future generations.

It is also an important event for us as a team, we gathered to exchange good thoughts, positive energy and I hope that we gave these trees the same dose of kindness, so that they take root as strong as possible and grow beautifully. We hope that those who will come to this place in many years will enjoy this forest, planted especially in the shape of our bank’s logo”.

Ruxanda Capmari, Marketing Director:
“It is very pleasant to realize that you are part of such a great project, a project not for a day, but for decades. The atmosphere was ”wow”, we demonstrated together that team spirited idefines maib team. We are committed to taking care of the “maib Forest” in the coming years, and it will certainly not be the last civic action in this regard.”

The locals from Cruzesti and Ceroborta also joined the planting actions. The villagers wanted to personally contribute to the afforestation of the village, so that future generations can enjoy an evergreen homeland.

Violeta Crudu, mayor of Cruzesti commune:
“This event that we are holding today is unique for our locality, because the commune of Cruzesti has never had a forest. We hope that it will rain and catch these trees that our children and grandchildren will come here when the big trees grow. We express our gratitude to “Hai Moldova” and maib team for selecting our locality for this beautiful project”.

Elena Solomon, the inhabitant of Ceroborta village:
“My hometown, Ceroborta, is nearby, so when I heard about this event, I decided right away that I would participate. I came with the villagers, the neighbors, for a cleaner and greener environment. And I hope that over the years we will be happy, that we will have a place to stay in the shade of the trees”.

The activity was carried out with the support of the NGO “Hai Moldova”, which provided the bank with the necessary organizational support and expertise in determining the area at high risk of erosion, a suitable space to be afforested.

Nadejda Cebotari, President of NGO “Hai Moldova”:
“We are extremely happy with the noble initiative of the maib team to plant a forest. Planting a forest is an investment in improving the quality of the environment and the quality of life of citizens in the Republic of Moldova. We hope that the maib example will be taken over by as many Moldovan companies as possible. Together we can make Moldova a greener, healthier, and cleaner country!”

Maib is committed to caring for the planted forest, to continuing the series of good deeds and getting involved in social responsibility projects.

Together we are better for society!
