The Broadcasting Coordination Council has postponed today the examination of the application for satellite broadcasting licence by DTV channel. The reason set forth was that the documents presented by the TV Company were not signed; however the BCC representative who received the documents hadn’t noticed that flaw. The fact that the documents weren’t signed was brought up by the BCC member Gheorghe Gorincioi, when BCC began to examine the issue of releasing the licence. At that point certain BCC members suggested delaying the examination procedure. The BCC member Vlad Turcanu has a different opinion. He believes that the TV Company is not responsible for this misunderstanding, and that all responsibility lies with the BCC officer who accepted the documents without pointing out this omission. The documents were submitted on June 7 and the TV Company should have been noticed about the missing signatures prior to the BCC meeting, Turcanu said. He also suggested continuing examining the licence issue. BCC Chair Corneliu Mihalache admitted that the officer who received the documents is to blame for the mistake, and that he would be penalised. Yet Mihalache insisted on delaying the examination of the licence application. Ion Terguta, the director of DTV, stated that the documents were original and the fact that the signatures are missing is not a plausible reason to postpone the review of the application. However, with a majority of votes, the examination of this issue was postponed. During a briefing held after the meeting, Turcanu said that BCC committed an abuse again. The DTV broadcasting schedule comprises informative, informational and publicist programs. 70% of those programs are created by DTV, 20% are created by local companies, and 10% are European works.
