The head of state is satisfied with the activity of the mayoralty of Chisinau

President Vladimir Voronin is satisfied with the activity of the local public authorities of Chisinau municipality and says that the dialogue between the central and local authorities is constructive. Moreover, the head of state considers as “over passed” the idea that local civil servants do not want to work, are incompetent and have only personal interests. “A great work experience is sensed, there are specialists who know thoroughly the basis of the management,” Voronin mentioned, underlining that he has seen “a sparkling” in their eyes and “a great will to make good things for Chisinau citizens”. The president participated on Thursday, July 13, in a meeting of the governmental and local decision-making bodies, where the activities of the mayoralty of Chisinau municipality for the first semester of 2006 and the planned actions for the first half of 2007, including the 15-th anniversary of Moldova’s independence were discussed. Voronin stated that he „was always interested” in getting involved in cooperation with local authorities, but „he had no one to cooperate in the past”. „Today the situation is totally different and, for 2 years already, Chisinau inhabitants can see concrete results of this collaboration”. Even if reporters were allowed to attend the meeting only for a few minutes, Voronin ensured that he has “no secret to hide”, mentioning that there were discussed the actions following to be undertaken till the Independence Day, „surprises” for Chisinau inhabitants for the City’s Day and the way 2006 will be concluded. Fitting Chisinau, creating „the best conditions” for capital inhabitants, transport and providing the necessary services for citizens, preparing for the new cold season, future plans for 2007 – these were the topics discussed, according to the head of state. At this turn, the interim mayor Vasile Ursu said that, on the Independence Day, the most important events will take place on the street Pan Halippa, where the repairing works will be finished. At the same time, he mentioned that until 27 August in the district Botanica the street Independentei will be rebuilt, where a commemorative stone is to be installed, subsequently to be replaced with a monument of Independence. According to the report of the Press Service of the Presidency, „the head of state suggested to municipal authorities to show more consequence and will in fighting corruption in municipal structures, in order to improve the image of capital mayoralty, which got worse over the past few years”.
