The Law on the Animal Kingdom will be supplemented with a new notion – selection hunting. A bill with relevant amendments has been approved by the Government, IPN reports.
Selection hunting implies the killing of sick and injured animals and animals with evident behavioral deviations. It will be organized and performed by the forest stock manager, while in the case of natural and scientific reserves – by responsible persons working for the reserves.
The hunting method will be set by regulations worked out by the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” and approved by the Government. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca recommended the Ministry of the Environment, before endorsing the bill, to consult once again the National Participation Council, which raised a number of objections to this legislative initiative.
