The contest for the election of the prosecutor general has been suspended, and the files submitted for filling this position will be returned to the applicants. A decision in this regard was approved by the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) today, September 27, IPN reports.

According to the chairperson of the CSP, Angela Motuzoc, the decision is due to the amendments recently voted by the Parliament to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, where the procedure for electing the new Prosecutor General has been changed. According to them, the said files could be subsequently submitted to the Commission to be set up for the election of the Prosecutor General.

Asked what was her attitude towards the amendments made to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, Angela Motuzoc, stated that "the CSP will comply with the provisions in force".

Seven candidates registered for the post of Prosecutor General.
