The text of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, which was initialed at the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit, will be made public on December 3, Speaker Igor Corman said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Igor Corman said the initialing of the Association Agreement created a state of euphoria in Moldovan society, but the Moldovan people must realize that it is only a step and there is yet a lot of work to be done. He said that the Moldovan Government knows what actions it must take to implement the Association Agreement that will be signed next September.

“We now must adjust the national legislation to the European one. The priorities in the immediate period include the laws on the reform in justice that were adopted in the first reading, the reform of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the fight against corruption. We do not have obligations concerning the signing of the Association Agreement, but we have the experiment of the states that initialed and didn’t sign. That’s why we need will and political stability in the country so as not to give reasons for deviating from the European course,” said Igor Corman.

He added that a decision on the abolition of the visa regime for Moldovans will be taken by the end of next March.

In the same connection, President Nicole Timofti said over the phone during the same program that the most important thing for Moldova after initialing is to remain faithful to the chosen course and the people should realize that three is no other more favorable course. “I hope we will not deviate from this course, regardless of the situation. We must achieve what we planned. We do it for all the people, not for a separate group, regardless of their political orientation and ethnicity,” said the head of state.

Nicolae Timofti added he is not aware that Russia intends to exert pressure on Moldova now that the country is coming closer to the EU, underlining that Russia is a historical friend of Moldova.
