Termocom's assets frozen in addition to accounts

The assets of Chisinau's heat and hot water utility Termocom have been frozen, after its accounts were earlier subjected to the same procedure to enforce the payment of a 1.5 billion lei debt accrued by the utility in 2002-2008, Info-Prim Neo reports. Termocom director Mihail Cernei regretted the new measure, saying that it jeopardized the seasonal repair campaign and preparations for the 2011-2012 heating season. “I don't want people to blame me and my team for the failure to prepare the network when the new cold season starts in October”. Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca also criticized the sequestration imposed on Termocom's assets as an “illegality” committed by the central authorities.
