The heat supplier Termocom SA does not need the court anymore to make the Chisinau City Hall pay the debt accumulated by not covering a part of the heating charge from the budget.
Mihai Arusoi, commercial director of the company, told reporters that they reached a compromise with the local authorities over a timetable for rescheduling the debt of 73 mln lei. So far, the municipality paid over 125 mln lei for debts to the heat supplier.
Arusoi says that the two sides agreed to work to the benefit of the consumers. The technical and financial problems will be solved at the negotiating table without involving the consumers in discussions. Earlier, the management of Termocom warned the local authorities that they will meet in court on October 17 if the debts are not cleared by October 15.
Mihai Arusoi said a new bill was sent to the City Hall. It will be examined by the relevant subdivisions of the City Hall and of the Chisinau Municipal Council. According to the cited source, the new charge must not be lower than 540 lei. Otherwise, the local authorities will have to cover the company’s expenses from the local budget so as to avoid its bankruptcy again.
Until the new heating charge is approved, the population will continue to pay 233 lei per G-calorie and the City Hall will continue to cover the 307 lei difference between charges from the city coffers.
