SA Termocom and the thermoelectric plants CET 2 and CET 1 can be merged into one, as stipulated in a bill that was submitted to the Government for examination. The Chisinau administration considers it is a good initiative, but there is one condition – the thermoelectric system should be transferred under the local public administration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”They spoke about a plant for restructuring the thermoelectric companies for a long time. The Chisinau City Hall is not against. It supports and put forward such an idea many years ago, but considers that SA Termocom should be managed by the local public administration in continuation. The CETs should also be transferred to the Chisinau City Hall as in other cities in Romania and Germany,” Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said Monday.
According to him, there is a great probability that the heating charge will decrease if the CETs and SA Termocom form part of the same structure. “SA Termocom would not purchase heat from CET 2 and the charge would thus diminish. The City Hall was able to settle the debts of SA Termocom. When this company was managed by the previous governments, it had huge debts. Termocom is now profitable and the state would like to take it over,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The period of three years offered by the Government as a last attempt to restructure SA Termocom expires on February 5, 2012.
