Teo Carnat decided to vacate his seat of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy. In its October 10 meeting, the Superior Council of Magistracy accepted the resignation tendered by Teo Carnat, the decision being submitted to Parliament for information, IPN reports.
Teo Carnat said he renounced the seat because he didn’t fail the polygraph test for the post of president of the National Integrity Agency. “I consider myself an upright person. While holding office, I took decisions in accordance with the legislation, not being influenced by anyone. While on the Chisinau Municipal Council and on the Superior Council of Magistracy, I was active and raised problems, suggesting solutions to them, and I think I accentuated the level of transparency and information of society about the Superior Council of Magistracy’s activity,” he stated.
Teo Carnat noted that he took part in the contest to fill the post of president of the National Integrity Agency to convince himself that the principle of meritocracy is decisive in obtaining the given post or that the decision is taken by the government. Even if a number of experts expressed their concern and dissatisfaction with the rules of the contest, he wanted to take part in this and the testing lasted for seven hours.
In the meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Teo Carnat said he answered sincerely all the questions, even if these were very tendentious and the testing allowed him to realize that the results were known before the test. He noted he does not want his name to spoil the image of the Council and does not want his name to be identified with the current government and thus asked his resignation to be accepted.
He also said that he is analyzing the procedures for challenging the test results and will go to court if there reasons for doing so.
