Sixteen tents carrying out Covid tests have been set up in Chisinau near family doctors’ centers and diagnostic centers. People with symptoms will be tested here, based on referral tickets issued by a family doctor or other authorized professional. Testing is free of charge and will not be done for non-medical purposes, such as travel, IPN reports.

Alexei Lavrinenco, deputy head of the Emergencies Inspectorate, says the tents have been set up on the initiative of the Chisinau City Hall to relieve the burden on the health care system, which is a welcome measure, given the rising number of people requesting Covid tests.

The tents are heated and lit. If needed, the Inspectorate will provide technical personnel, says Lavrinenco.

To date, more than 409,000 Covid cases have been reported in Moldova, including 2,400 on Sunday. Yesterday alone, 8,897 tests were performed, including 3923 rapid tests. The total number of tests performed since the beginning of the pandemic is over 2.6 million.
