Tens of thousands of voters put their trust in noncommunist parties, former MP

The democratic government coalition must bear in mind that tens of thousands of Moldovans put their trust in the four parties and entrusted them with the task of removing the Communists from power. They do not have the right to ruin their hopes, said Nadejda Branzan, a member of the first Parliament. Vlad Filat, Mihai Ghimpu, Serafim Urecheanu and Marian Lupu must realize that their triumph is due to the fact that thousands of persons got involved and, going from house to house, explained the people why they should vote for the anticommunist parties, Nadejda Branzan said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to her, the Bessarabians working abroad turned out to be real heroes as they covered hundreds of kilometers, queued up at embassies and voted for democracy, even if Voronin made everything possible to prevent them from exercising their right to vote by naming a workday as election day. “I believe in the three leaders, in their rationality. I think they will find a solution and we will live in a new country. I hope that Marian Lupu (which translates as wolf) will not swallow them as in Ion Creanga’s tale with three kids, as he would be engulfed in flames as the wolf from the tale and will burn as Iurie Rosca”, Nadejda Branzan said. She considers that Lupu is too young to make a fatal mistake, especially after serving for eight years a party that “manipulated the people with the help of televisions, destroyed businesses, brought agriculture and the villages to the brink of ruin so that the children are now fed with dry milk and meat frozen many years ago somewhere in Latin America. “Everything depends on who finances Lupu. If we knew this, we would know more about the course that Moldova would take.” The future democratic government must learn from the previous mistakes and not repeat them so as not to discredit the idea of democracy. According to the former MP, the most progressive and efficient executive, the Sturza Government, centered on the implementation of macroeconomic reforms that started to produce good results. Moldova was coming closer to the EU, but Iurie Rosca and the Communists joined forces and removed this Government. The Sturza Government’s biggest mistake, of which the Communists made use, was that they focused on macro-economy and reforms that were to produce results in the future, forgetting about the people who had nothing to eat. That fatal error led to the triumph of the agrarians, who became later Communists and discredited democracy. Ion Sturza should have borrowed money, including from abroad, but pay the pensions and salaries on time, Branzan considers. Nadejda Branzan urges the future democratic government to act as the Baltic Countries – to call home the citizens that managed to make a name while working for companies famous worldwide. They could help take Moldova out of the chaos into which it was thrown by the Communist government.
